Captain Bradford "Mad Dog" McClatchie and I took a shot at Eagle Creek this morning.

We were hoping for walleye but did not find any.

 We pretty much caught fish in the first 5 minutes and non stop until the last 5 minutes of the trip.

Small white bass and crappie were plentiful but the quality evaded us.

Also caught one small channel cat and two tiny largemouth.

 This was our first trip and we decided to wing it.

 We trolled around the entire edge of the area where the bait shop is located.

I mean a slow crawl all the way around past the dam and past Rick's.

We covered depths from 12 to 33 feet around the perimeter.

We were using slip sinkers with minnows and night crawlers working the bottom.

 Again, very effective for small white bass and crappie, but for walleye, not so much.

Couple of notes, the bait shop opens at 8.00 am and you need two bucks worth of quarters to get through the gate to launch your boat.

I've tried out there before for walleyes and never had any luck. I've tried deep water humps and shelves as well as shallow flats - nothing. The only walleyes I've seen taken out of there were from the causeway at the 56th st bridge, by crappie fisherman with little tube jigs fished deep. I know they're in there but I wonder how dense the population is anymore.

We were short on time and decided to try the perimeter. Probably need a guide to flush them out. I will see if I can find any data on the population.
